GastroShow 2026 in Istanbul

Zero Waste and Gastronomy Tourism Association President Gürkan Boztepe’s Moderation Take Centre Stage

Zero Waste is not merely an approach to environmental protection; it is a strategic responsibility shaping the future of gastronomy and tourism.

Reducing food waste, conserving natural resources, supporting local producers and promoting sustainable consumption habits are all essential to the future of the gastronomy sector.

From restaurants and hotels to local producers and tourism businesses, adopting these principles can contribute to both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency. GastroShow 2026 brought this important message to the forefront of the industry in Istanbul.

GastroShow 2026 Where Gastronomy and Tourism Meet

Organised through a collaboration between the Gastronomy Tourism Association and Rota Exhibitions Turkey, GastroShow 2026 took place on 9–10 October at Taşyapı Şişli in Istanbul. The two-day event brought together representatives from gastronomy, tourism, culture, the arts, the public sector and private industry, attracting considerable visitor interest.

This year’s main theme, “Zero Waste,” shaped the event’s sessions, talks and industry discussions. Addressing Türkiye’s potential in gastronomy tourism on an international scale, GastroShow covered a broad agenda ranging from sustainability and global partnerships to cultural exchange and new market opportunities.

VakıfBank, DOKURU and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality were among the event’s main sponsors. The stands of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Anadoludakiler and artist Seval Özcan were also among the areas attracting interest. Catering services were provided by Tepe Gourmet.

Gürkan Boztepe’s Moderation Added Value to the GastroShow Programme

One of the prominent figures at GastroShow 2026 was Gürkan Boztepe, President of the Gastronomy Tourism Association. Known for his work in developing gastronomy tourism, promoting Türkiye’s rich culinary heritage and strengthening connections among industry stakeholders, Boztepe moderated several sessions during the event.

His contribution to the programme, particularly around the GastroTalks gathering featuring researcher, journalist and photographer Coşkun Aral, helped bring participants from different fields together to explore subjects at the intersection of gastronomy, culture and travel.

Gastronomy tourism extends far beyond the promotion of food. It offers a multifaceted way to introduce a country’s culture, history, production traditions and way of life to the world. This makes events that unite industry representatives, academics, local authorities, tourism professionals and cultural figures increasingly important.

The Gastronomy Tourism Association’s role in a comprehensive gathering such as GastroShow is significant in this respect. By bringing different sectors together around shared priorities, the Association helps increase the visibility of Türkiye’s gastronomy tourism expertise and creates opportunities for new partnerships.
